The common name “Lemongrass” can refer to several plants in the Cymbopogon genus, in which “Citronella” also belongs. To make matters even more confusing, the French common name for Lemongrass is “Verveine des Indes” (Indian Vervain), even though the Lemongrasses are not at all related to the Vervain family (verbenaceae). Many of the plants in the Lemongrass family are used in aromatherapy, culinary applications, as well as for cosmetics, and repelling insects. If you are hoping to use Lemongrass essential oil for medicinal or aromatherapeutic purposes, keep this in mind, and always check the botanical name.
Our Lemongrass Essential Oil is one of the classic Lemongrasses used in aromatherapy, which also has a number of other applications and uses. Its herbaceous aroma makes it an excellent natural fragrance to add to soaps, lotions, and natural perfumes.
Coop Coco is a Canadian retail and wholesale supplier of Lemongrass Essential Oil, a therapeutic grade essential oil that is steam distilled from the Lemongrass herb. Our bulk Lemongrass Essential Oil is sourced from Sri Lanka, and has a heavy, lemony aroma.
Lemongrass essential oil has been known to cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals. All essential oils should be used only after being diluted in a carrier oil. Do not take internally unless under the direct supervision of a qualified practitioner. Always perform a small patch test (with the diluted essential oil) before using on skin, to check for compatibility. We strongly advise caution when using essential oils around children and pregnant women.
