The common name “Citronella” can refer to several plants in the Cymbopogon genus, in which “Lemongrass” also belongs. There are two primary essential oils on the market commonly referred to as “Citronella”. One is from Java: Cymbopogon winterianus (this is the one we carry). The other is from Sri Lanka: Cymbopogon nardus. They are often used interchangeably.
Many of the plants in the Lemongrass family are used in aromatherapy, culinary applications, cosmetics, and for repelling insects. If you are hoping to use Citronella essential oil specifically for medicinal or aromatherapeutic purposes, always check the botanical name to ensure that you are buying Citronella and not something distilled from one of the other plants in the same genus.
Citronella Essential Oil has a number of wide-ranging applications and uses, including aromatherapy, do-it-yourself cosmetics, and scenting candles. Its rich aroma makes it an excellent natural fragrance to add to soaps, lotions and homemade cleaning products.
Coop Coco is a Canadian retail and wholesale supplier of Citronella Essential Oil, a therapeutic grade essential oil that is steam distilled from the grass of the Citronella plant. Our bulk Citronella Essential Oil is sourced from Vietnam, and has a fresh, lemon-like, sweet aroma.
All essential oils should be used only after being diluted in a carrier oil. Do not take internally unless under the direct supervision of a qualified practitioner. Always perform a small patch test (with the diluted essential oil) before using on skin, to check for compatibility. We strongly advise caution when using essential oils around children and pregnant women.
Keep tightly sealed in a cold, dark place.
Available in bulk size in the wholesale section.
